Question

Permanently / Reapeat Relinking Media Each Time ( on NAS)

Hi,

We've got a issue with premiere.

We run it on mac studio M1 ultra, 64Go ram. Rushes and project are on Qnap 8x drive NAS with 10Gbe ethernet, rushes are from sony FX9, FX3, DJI drone.

Everytime we open the project, it's very very slow to relinking media and premiere do it all the time.

the project is quite big ( 4To of rushs) but the process is very slow ( more than 45min) and the process start each time we launch the pproj, rushes and project location never change so premiere do not have to relink each time..

We never seen that before ( or never noticed it because it was never as slow as it is). We've tried with other software like da vinci and never seen such issue (we tried with same rushes) so hardware is ok.

It make our day quite a nightmare.. and we do not know where it come from : is it a bug with network folder on last premiere version, something else ?

If you have anybody could have an idea.

Thank you.

Productions mode was designed for large projects, the ones that typically bog down machines due to the massive metadata load Premiere has to put into cache/RAM just to start up.

Which is why Kevin suggested it. I've gone to using it even in my small shop because that way all of my b-roll, sound libraries, template sequences and such, are available in any project for any client or purpose without duplication of assets or whatnot.

I've been very pleased.

Hi @Setinula,

I read your report. Thanks for all the info. Is teh NAS mounted inside the Miedia Browser? If not, this could be a Security and Privacy issue with your Mac's System Preferences and that drive needing "Full Disk Access." See if enabling full disk access might help.

Please also make sure any clocks related to the NAS are synched to the clock on macOS.

As far as the project taking long to load, you might look into the Productions feature. I have a huge project that loads very quickly. Definitely was worth the time to set that up.

I hope the advice helps.

Thanks,
Kevin
