Premier file mismatch?

OK - I put my Animate swf's into After-effects and saved them as Premier projects.

I import the ae files into Premier and it brings along the swf as well with it.

But when I try to use it in Premier and to relink to the original Animate swf it says file format not supported.

aaaargh - I've probably missed a trick here and imported rather than opened etc. but any help very gratefully received.

I think I've done ot by bringing swf's straight into Media Encoder and making them into MP4's.........
