Premiere Pro Subtitles appearing as hard encoding under sidecar option

Hi everyone,

I am having some trouble with my subtitles, I am exporting my footage with the option to create a sidecar file; however, when playing my exported video, the subtitles remain permanently on my video. When subtitles are switched off, they still remain on the screen, and when I switch subtitles on in the media player, I get two sets of subtitles across my video. (This could be an issue with the media player perhaps).

I am using the same technique as I previously had to get this to work and it worked fine before. I have tried to delete and recreate the subtitles to give it a refresh, but with no luck.

I am quite new to Premiere Pro, so am just checking it is not something obvious.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks

You can try to reset Premiere Pro´s preferences by closing it and then press and hold down the Shift-key while launching Premiere Pro again. In the dialog that pops up, select "Reset app preferences" and click Continue. Try to export now and see if it works as expected.

If it don´t work, downgrade Premiere Pro to version 24.3.0.

To downgrade, launch the Creative Cloud app, go to Apps, click on the three dots and choose "Other versions", choose the version and click on "Install".

How does the exported video look if you import it in Premiere Pro and playback it there?

The subtitles are still on the imported video in Premiere Pro.

O.k, which exact version of Premiere Pro are you using? (Help > About Premiere Pro)

Do you export to H.264, ProRes 4444 or?

I did a test here in version 24.3.0 and exported to H.264 and the video exported with no burned in captions.
