Question

Premiere won't read or import Hevc

Following the update to v 23.3 I am no longer able to work with HEVC codec / iPhone footage. I've uninstalled premiere and re-installed twice, i've tried deleting one of the suggested folders. My plan is paid for by my company so I don't understand why premiere either gives me an error message or prompts me to upgrade to a paid plan.

I keep seeing "solutions" of going to other sites and downloading odd pluggins but im not interested in work arounds. I was literally working on a project with iPhone footage in it a week ago I'm completly lost as to why I cannot now .

The 23.3 update broke HEVC for us too. An older codec can be used temporarily like you and others have mentioned but for us it was just easier to downgrade back to a previous version for now.

Or you can create proxies instead. It's often a better workflow to cut proxies over HEVC natively.

What happened when you deleted the AdobeInstalledCodecsTier2 folder and relaunched Premiere?

1.Have you clear preference and media cache files try this click on the Option or alt while launching application.

2.Make sure you have enough space and move your HEVC media file to other location and try to import. Is that your file on external drive? Are you working on mac Or Win?

Thanks,

Suraj.
