ProRes definition

I have footage filmed on a Canon XF405 camera in 3840x2160 50p 8-bit and recorded in ProRes 422HQ on a Blackmagic monitor. When viewed in Pr Pro the definition does not appear quite as good as it should be, but giving it Sharpen 40 makes the definition perfect. What is the reason for this? Is it that Pr Pro finds it hard to show ProRes at full definition? Or what?  I'm pretty sure the camera was in focus when filming.

Hi @Brontosaurus,

In the Program Monitor's Settings menu (the wrench/spanner), is "High Quality" enabled? Are you at "Full" resolution. Those may be the issue. Check it out and let us know.

Thanks,
Kevin

Thank you Kevin. I found that the resolution was set to 1/2 and also it wasn't set to High Quality Playback. Now it's good (though Sharpen still appears to improve it slightly)
