I just chatted with the Adobe team.  They have informed me that it's a bug that should get fixed on the next update and it's an issue they have been aware about.  It's a different issue than the copy/paste issue.  So there currently isn't a fix for it.

The problem triggers when you try to manipulate the shadow/filter effects on the text editing title screen.  Double clicking the text title, then opening up the text editing screen and editing the text is fine, but when you try to alter the shadow effect, or apply the shadow effect, or any other filter on that screen, the problem then triggers.

We tried everything including a complete re-install of PP.  It didn't work.  This issue started the moment I updated to Sierra on the OS.  I really hope they fix the issue on the next patch.  It's highly inconvenient to work around.  Especially with a something as simple as the text tool.

UPDATE:

It's not just the text editor.  IT IS this window.  Anything you want to go and edit, whether shape, text, or image, once you try to edit any filter or effects on this window, the glitch happens.

Hi Ericb,

Sorry for the late response.

Did you check for this issue in a new project?

Also, try copy/paste in the text edit window.

If that does not help, click on 'Sequence' > 'Delete Render Files' and check if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

Kulpreet Singh

Text editor has an issue on sierra with copy/paste: it crashes.

I would alt+drag and try again.
