Two overlapping Nested Sequences do not playback video concurrently

Hi, I run a youtube channel, and a large part of my editing gimmick is that of using fancy transitions between talking head segments, however, for some reason, a very specific two clips from my timeline refuse to appear on the video feed at the same time.

Pictured: the two nested sequences in question, for some reason the top one stops video playback at all if the bottom one overlaps with it, the audio is fine though.
