What happens if you keep working with unsupported video engine?

I just had an emergency editing session on my project and got the video engine isn't supported window, I chose continue with known issues because I had to keep working.

at my school they have a supprted video engine so it's not a problem, if I keep working on the project I opened at my home computer (I made a copy of my poject because I got worried) will I be at risk of losing data?

are my video files at risk or is it only rendering files?

    You won't lose data.

You may experience performance issues, crashing, or export issues.

If it works, go ahead and use it. Just make sure to save and back up frequently (which should be done even if all is OK).

Adding to what @Peru Bob said. You can increase the frequency of your auto-save settings. And with the new Premiere, auto-save happens in the background so it won't annoy you.

Go to Settings > Auto-Save and set it to save like every 5 minutes. That way, you'll only lose 5 minutes of work in case of a crash.
