What is the secret to the middle-button mouse scroller when shrinking/stretching the timeline?

Hi Everybody,

I'm realtively new in using Premiere '23. I'm trying to hit Alt/Opt-Scroll to shrink/strech the timeline and it either works or rolls up and snaps back to fuill zoom. Like if I go over in scrolling the whole thing resets. It's incredibly annoying.

What's the secret to properly shrink/stretch footage this way using the mouse without the timeline constantly resetting?

Does anybody know what I'm taling about?

In addition to what Myer said, the most command that I use for navigation is: "Zoom to sequence" (I mapped it to z), this is incredibly useful to go from a part of the timeline to another: I press z, the whole timeline is displayed, I move the time indicator to another area in the timeline, press z again, get back to the previous zooming level. I just can't imagine editing without that.

Hey Got, it's working for me, alt+scroll shrinks and expands the timeline, and when I release either, it stays there. There is a preference under Timeline which says time line mouse scrolling. I have mine set on Horizontal.
