Won't import video after importing audio..

I have a problem where evey time i import audio to my timeline, it then refuses to import a video next, only taking the audio. If i try to import the video a second time, it then works.

I believe the problem is buggy behaviour of the "Source patching for inputs and overrides" button. It literally dissapers from the video area when i import audio. On importing video it reappers, but only accepts the audio the first time.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Secondly, the timeline numbers are also messed up. I love updates O___o

As I remember... Try this:

  1. Select random video that contains audio in the Project window.
  2. Choose source Video + Audio patching on the left of the Timeline, make sure V and A is enabled
  3. Next files that you drag and drop will have V+A patching

Hope this works

Open clip first in the Source Monitor then add to timeline.

Yeah, that works. Thanks. Just hoping there's a fix for the bug, so that extra step won't be nessersary.

Drag and drop triggers Premiere to do things which causes certain behavior.

To avoid this use the Import Tab or File > Import or use the Media Browser.

This is not a bug; its how source patching works.

I think you're doing a "Drag and Drop" from Explorer directly onto the timeline. If you first drag into the Project window, only then onto the timeline, then you immediately have a choice of Video/Audio patching.

Yeah I'm doing the “drag and drop”. i used to get this behaviour once in a while, but it happens every time since updating. Didn’t know it was a known phenomenon. Dragging clips to the project folder first works, thanks! Although i hope a solution to the bug can be found, so that i don’t have to do an extra unnecessary step every time i import footage
