Question

Workflow feedback please wit r3d files in 6k

Hi everyone, I'm editing 6k r3d-files at the moment. To save myself the hassle of having to many audio layers in Premiere I made Sequences out of every video file and inside these I synced the audio. For editing I opened these sequences in the source monitor and used them in my main sequence (1080p).

On exporting there were random pixelation bugs. My workaround was sending them to AE and prerendering them in Premiere which solved this but took a lot of time.

Am I doing this wrong? Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Have you considered leaving the sequence set to expected export framesize, but using either lowered playback settings ... maybe 1/4 say, or proxies, to get better performance while editing?

Everyone's mileage always varies ...

Thanks for getting back to me. The editing is no problem at all. Considering it's in 6k it's runs surprisingly smooth - even way better then 4k mxf-files. It's only the exporting (without prerendering) that leads to problems and the prerendering, tracking in AE and Content Aware Fill. It takes ages and it's getting hard to justify spending so much time on this video.
