RH8 Conditional Build Tags - Unpublished Content Returned in Searches

I had to create a CHM of specific books/topics from my project.

So I created a conditional build tag, applied it to the desired content, and generated a CHM. I noticed the TOC contains only those books/topics that I specified with conditional build tags, but:

  • The CHM filesize is the same as the full version.
  • Searches return topics not specified.
  • Links in specified topics to unspecified topics work normally.

Are these bugs in RH8?

PS: I posted this question in another section but then noticed it was in the Flash forum, so I'm reposting here. Sorry for the confusion.

    Hi there,

I think I can help you with this.  When I  have content that I don't want to be outputted by RH and in turn not show up in search I have to set a conditional tag and then specify in the layout properties to exclude that content from the output.

For example lets say you have 3 sets of  content with 3 separate conditional tags.

    Tag 1

    Tag 2

    Tag 3

If you only want the content with the condition of Tag 1 to be outputted and show up in search results, you will have to Define a Condtional Build Expression in your layout properties before you generate.

the Conditional Build Expression would look like this.

Not Tag 2 and Not Tag 3.

The RH will only output  content with the conditional tag of Tag 1.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for your help, but William already covered the topic. Apparently, I was applying the conditional tag using the TOC pod, when I should have done it at the topic level.

    Thanks again.
