ACROBAT PRO : WHEN I ADD TEXT TO A PDF, IT GETS DUPLICATED ELSEWHERE IN THE DOCUMENT

The PDF is not really a fillable form, it's like a diary. I add text to it, and it seems fine until I save it. Then, I find the text block duplicated elsewhere in the PDF.

I called Adobe tech support, because Acrobat Pro was also running VERY slow. They had me uninstall and reinstall Acrobat. That did not work for either issue.

I tried de-selecting Edit text or Fill and Sign--still getting the repeated blocks of text elsewhere in the doument. If I try to delete the duplications, the original text block disappears.  I'd already added text to 10 pages of the diary and just went back and noticed that when I deleted the duplicates, the original text blocks added had disappeared.

I've added text to MANY PDFs in the past and never had this issue.  It is such a drag!

I'm working on a 2021 MacBook Pro M1 16" running Sequoia 15.1.1 and I'm runnng Acrobat Pro continuous release | version 2024.004.20272.

Has anybody else had this issue?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Acrobat is not a word processing application and should not be used as such. Create your diary in a different application (Word, for example), then convert it to a PDF when done.

What I'm working on is not literally a diary, I just called it that. It is a workbook and it came in PDF form. There are all kind of instructions and exercises and there are places to write things. I wish it came in word but I've already started 10 days of it and I have 20 more to go. I should be able to fill in text on a PDF. That is what Acrobat is for! I've done this for many other PDF files and books that are in PDF form– Highlighting vocabulary, writing definitions, and Creating text boxes to make comments. I've even worked with this actual document five years ago and never had any problem doing exactly what I'm doing now.
