Question

Acrobat window won't stay active/in front during Edit.

Windows 7, Acrobat Pro DC.

Just in the past few weeks, any time I try to use the "Edit PDF" tool, I can make one edit (i.e., type one character), and also if needing to change/resize/move other objects, such as fills, then I have to click elsewhere in the Acrobat window to bring the file back forward/to active status before I can make another edit.  Incredibly annoying. It just automatically moves the whole window to in-active/background status after the edit.

OK, Now I am bummed, I just discovered the edit issue is NOT fixed. The specific edit is to select an object, or set of objects (return address type and logo), and move them with the cursor keys. After 1 nudge, the window still goes to the background. Every time.  I checked using "Help/check for udpates, and I have the most recent version installed - no updates available.

And this issue still shows up sometimes... 10-3-22.

I am having the same issue with Acrobat Pro DC.

Version 2021.011.20039    Windows 10 Enterprise
It is very frustrating as the customer only had a pdf and wanted pretty extensive type changes.

I hope there is a fix in the works.

So, I have been checking the Creative Cloud app for updates to Acrobat, as I do for all my other Creative Cloud apps, and not seen any.  Finally looked under the Help menu in Acrobat and had it check, and one showed up. The above problem has been fixed (hooray).  Why was this update not available through the Creative Cloud app?????????

Hi there,

Glad to hear that you have managed to figure out the root cause of the problem and resolved it. Thanks for taking out time to update the discussion and getting back to us.

Latest update of Acrobat has fix for the previous bug which has helped here to resolve the initial issue posted above. Few updates and security patch are optional, that can only be installed through the application itself or through the release notes.DC Release Notes — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products and that could be the reason that it wasn't showing in the CCD app.

By any chance did you notice the exact version you had installed and which patch you have installed after running "check for update"?

Regards,

Akanchha

Perhaps for the Creative Cloud app a note could be added under Acrobat that for technical reasons, updates are available from the Help menu only.  Or something similar.

Previous version # not remembered in full, but I am sure it was still a 2017.  Current as of yesterday/today is 2019.010.20069. I also have Reader installed, and it currently has the same version number - 2019. etc.

I did check some of the stuff at that link, but the only think I got out of it was a reminder that other people use Acrobat for other things than I do.
