Intertrust has released an updated version of its Doc Box plugin for Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and Acrobat Reader 5.0.

Users that require the Intertrust digital rights management system in order to open secure pdf files are encouraged to download the new plugin. This new plugin also fixes problems for people who had system or debugger conflicts with the Doc Box plugin.

NOTE: This update is not supported on Windows 95. If you are using Windows 95 and are having issues with DocBox.api, simply remove any and all instances of this plugin. You can find the plugin by doing a search for "docbox.api" on your system.

I downloaded the intertrust file to update my docbox.api, but still
can't get Acrobat to run from a web page or from the icon on my
desktop. Help if you can, I must be doing something wrong.
    Thanks

I just registered and quickly perused this forum. I have always had great luck with AR, and am very appreciative of the great service Adobe has done for the public by providing such a great product for free. Recently, while loading software for a new application, (Plexwriter CD-RW), I found I ended up unexpectedly with a bundled, additional version of AR. I now have both (3 and 4) on the same computer. PDF files sometimes won't open unless I first open the Reader myself. and occasionally the Reader misbehaves and stops responding. The FAQs on the Adobe website says an older version should be uninstalled first before installing a new version, and that if the new version is installed without first removing the old, then the new version needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled again. It seems simple and logical enough, but the problem is I could not find uninstallers for either one! Is there any potential pitfalls to manually deleting the folders and files and not going through the program's uninstallers? (Windows Uninstaller couldn't find the DelsL2.isu file).

I have just started going to user forums recently, and I find that usually there is only one or a few kind-hearted persons with the expertise and willingness to help users with problems. On this forum, the same name posting solutions appear frequently. Jim, thanks! I have already had the benefit of your experience just by reading many of the posts on this forum. Of course, I will be grateful if you have any advice for me about uninstalling the multiple versions.

I'll have to check that out on Monday. I've just been using the Drag and Drop method.

I hope I find it. the Drag part is killing my feet, and I really don't look good high heels!

Tom, I checked out the Frame FAQ and you said:

    >Oh, never mind! I found it myself in the Knowledge Database. I now have a desktop Virtual Postscript Printer. I just wish I could do this in one step, like with a PC!

You can. If you have the AdobePS 8.6 or above, you should also have "Create Adobe PDF" as a print option as well as "Virtual Printer"

The "Create Adobe PDF" is the 'one step' method on the Mac.

    Judy:

The consensus is that even though Win95B is a minimum requirement for Acrobat 5, you are better off with a later OS, such as Win98, WinNT 4, Win2000.

That being said, the only real solution you have is to delete the docbox.api. Please re-read this thread to figure out how to do that, if you don't know.

Also, a P5-133 with 64MB Ram is kinda low on the evolutionary resource scale. I know. I'm running a P5-166MMX with 96MB EDO RAM . . . and it is overwhelmed on occasion. I recommend you replace all your SIMMS and at least upgrade to 256MB RAM . . . which I would have done were I not replacing this old box soon. Also, please realize that processor will noticably slow down Distiller . . . tests I've done showed my P5-166 to be many, many times slower than even a slow, 450 MHz PIII . . .. Many, many times slower . . . taking 4 hours or so to process a file that the PIII 450 processed in one hour . . ..

    Cheers,

    Sean

Oh, it will most likely work with win95A or B, if you REMOVE ALL THE DOCBOX.API FILES!

What is so funny is, every time he tried, unsuccessfuly, to install the upgrade, he created another docbox.api to gum up the works.

    Judy,

Have you checked the System Requirements for Acrobat Reader 5? Unless you're running Win95B, it won't work at all.
