Intertrust has released an updated version of its Doc Box plugin for Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and Acrobat Reader 5.0.

Users that require the Intertrust digital rights management system in order to open secure pdf files are encouraged to download the new plugin. This new plugin also fixes problems for people who had system or debugger conflicts with the Doc Box plugin.

NOTE: This update is not supported on Windows 95. If you are using Windows 95 and are having issues with DocBox.api, simply remove any and all instances of this plugin. You can find the plugin by doing a search for "docbox.api" on your system.

Thanks for the deleting the "docbox.*" tip! I tried downloading Reader twice to make sure that my computer hadn't messed up the downloaded files. Reader 5.0 works great now!

I have just installed Acrobat Reader 5.0 to use with IRS PDF files. Will not work. IRS Web says Plugin detected but there's an error; plugin will not initialize. I have been the Docbox plugin with Intertrust and re-installed it as Docbox.old. Has not solved problem. They can't help more - they say contact Adobe! My installation includes G2 plugin with flash. What can do to solve problem?

Did you DELETE docbox.api? If you didn't, try it.

Thank you to Tom & W.T.!
Deleting the docbox.api stuff is definitely the way to go!
I'm glad I listened to you guys and not the product support
guy, 'cause I'm still using ol' Win '95 and wasting time is
    NOT my favorite thing.
    For those who panic easily:
Just use the "find files or folders" feature on the start
menu, search for docbox, select all the files it finds,
    and delete 'em.
    It's really just that simple.
    Thanks again!

    >I would like to ask an elementary question: Why can't I run Adobe reader 5.0 on my Windows 95 computer, with the IE browser?

For the same reason you can't use it on your DR-DOS 5 or Windows 3.1 machines, either. Because Acrobat Reader 5 is for use with Windows 95 OSR2 and later.

    That would include:

    Windows 95 OSR2
    Windows NT 4 SP5, SP6, SP6A
    Windows 98
    Windows 98 Second Edition
    Windows ME
    Windows 2000
