Question

Automatic replace text when commenting

Please help...

Until recently, I could just highlight a piece of text and start typing to create a note to replace text. (Blue cross-out)

This functionality is now gone and I have to select text / right-click / click 'Add note to replace text / then start typing.

Is there a way to turn the automatic note creation back on??

Thanks for your help.

Anders

I have just realised that I can no longer do this either and it's insanely frustrating! I don't know what Adobe were thinking by getting rid of this feature but it makes no sense to remove something so user-friendly and convenient.

Hi! Did anyone figure this out? I was able to type to replace text last week, and now I can't. I don't know what could have changed in my settings.

Hi @anderss58557992

Hope you are doing well.

It seems that you are referring to the automatic comment pop-up after using the strikethrough function in commenting tool. and now that's not appearing automatically.

Please check the commenting preferences and see if any pop-up behavior has been changed.

Open Acrobat>Edit>Preferences>Commenting>Pop-up Behavior> check "Automatically open comment pop-up.....">OK> close and reopen Acrobat

Thanks,

Akanchha

Thanks Akanchha.

What I am looking for is the for Acrobat to automatically open a replace-text commenting note, when I highlight a text piece and start typing.

Also, I am on a mac, so my preferences don't look exactly like yours...

Thanks

Anders

Presently, on Mac OS Acrobat version 2024.002.20964 it is working for me (I can select text, type, text is struck out, and a dialog box opens). I'm attaching my preferences settings.
