Batch process for appending PDF/UA Compliant Metadata

Is there a way to batch process either of the methods for adding the PDF/UA compliant metadata?

Either using the preflight option available in Acrobat Pro DC or appending the data through the Properties window in earlier versions of Acrobat?

I have pdfs that need to be ADA WCAG 2.0 compliant. I'm doing a number of steps to achieve this but the addition of the xmp for the PDF/UA compliance so far seems like a one by one process.

Thanks for your help,

Bob

You may have to create the fixup "Set PDF/UA-1 entry" first, then put it inside a new profile, and then use that profile for droplet creaton or batch processing/action sequences.

Olaf, that did it. I setup a new droplet as you described above and I can now drop PDFs as needed to add the PDF/UA-1 entry.

Thank you very much,

In the latest version of Acrobat, the Preflight feature offers a fixup called "Set PDF/UA entry". It does exactly that, regardless whether the file actually complies with PDF/UA-1 (aka ISO 14289-1) or not.

For batch processing you can

- create a droplet, and then drop files onto the droplet

- create a batch sequence/action (using the Action Wizard), and use it to process for example a folder of PDF files

You can also use Preflight (look for the profile called "Verify compliance with PDF/UA-1 (syntax checks only)") to check for syntax level compliance with PDF/UA-1 (and you should actually do that, as conformance to ADA WCAG 2.0 requirements does not guarantee conformance with PDF/UA-1, and vice versa).

Preflight and Actions ,batch processing, are only available with Acrobat Professional variations not the Standard variation or the Reader product.
