Question

Change bookmarks default action

Hi there,

We upgraded to the latest Adobe Acrobat Pro 2024 version. Now I have the following issue:

When I use the default context menu (right-click) command "Add Bookmark" a action of type "Run a Javascript" is automatically added. That's bad since most of the Viewers (Chrome, FireFox, Mac...) have JavaScript deactivated by default due to safety concerns. Therefore the bookmarks only work inside the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Before the upgrade the action after using "Add Bookmark" was "Go to a page in this document". This was much better in terms of compatibility (as it was a simple PDF-GOTO-Action).

Is there a way to change the default action that is used for the "Add Bookmark" command, so that I don't have to change every bookmark manually after adding it?

Thanks,
Marcus

Hi @Marcus386769424x3t

We understand the issue you are facing. To help resolve it, could you please provide a sample file where this issue occurs consistently?

Please note that the JavaScript console is not set to appear by default; it requires manual action to be made visible.

Nonetheless, we are eager to investigate this issue further to assist you.

Best regards,

Bhawna

No, you don't understand or you wouldn't be asking the question.I have the same issue. The default property when creating a bookmark is reun a javascript / inherit zoom. I think Marcus described the issue well enough for you to figure it out. Used to love Adobe, not any more. I spend too much time on forums like this trying to fix issues that did not used to exist, thanks to ill conceived updates. I even went as far to re-instate the previous version of Adobe as Pro 2024 is so poor.
