Question

Display name on comments shows a different name

Hi,

My laptop got stolen recently and I bought another one. Normally, when I make comments on Adobe reader, the side bar will show my name and the date for each comment. However, recently a different name  (completely unrecognizable to me) started showing up everytime I make a comment. I've changed my password and it hasn't helped. I've never signed in to Adobe reader, so I don't know if it has anything to do with the internal system of my laptop. Please help.

The name shown in comments you create has nothing to do with your Adobe account, or your password or anything like that.

It can be set to be the log-in name on your machine (ie, the user name), or to anything else.

To change it the name you want to have follow these instructions:

Go to Edit (or the Acrobat/Reader menu if you're on a Mac) - Preferences - Commenting and tick off the box next to "Always use Log-In Name for Author name".
Now right-click a comment and select Properties. Go to the General tab and change the Author name. Make sure to also tick the box that says "Make Properties Default".
Click OK, and any new comment you create (from that type) from now on will have your name as the Author by default.
