email interactive pdf as an attachment to an email

I have an interactive pdf (form) built in InDesign CC 2020. My clients can download this from my web site and order catering products.

I have created a button on the pdf the says "Email form"so that once the form is filled out it can be sent to an email address as an attachment.

I have tried three ways to link the email address. As a hyperlink in InDesign, as an interactive element in InDesign, and as a hyperlink in Acrobat Pro.

I can't get this link to behave. Sometimes it opens a blank email window, but the pdf is not attached. Other times I get an error telling me that my email app (Spark) isn't recognised. I know this is a long winded post, but I've been working on this all day and wanted to post all the details.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to set the Mouse Up action associated with the button to Submit Form and then select the "PDF The complete document" option and enter your email address (with "mailto:" before it) as the URL, like this:

Hullo. Thanks for your help, but for the life of me I cannot find the modal in your screen shot. I am doing this in InDesign 2020 on a mac running Mojave.

I select my object, go to the Interactive menu, select Button, then select Submit Form and then the whole thing falls over. If I could find your screen shot it looks as though my problem would be solved. But no luck. Appreciate your help.

Hi there

We are sorry for the trouble. A described above, you are not able to send the PDF a s email attachment

What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version of the application please use the link (https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/identify-product-version.html)

Make sure you have the latest version 19.21.20056. Go to Help > Check for Updates.

Try to add the the email application again to Acrobat / Reader DC. Go to Edit (Windows) , Acrobat / Reader DC (Mac) > Preferences > Email Accounts > Add Account and check.

Check for any antivirus or security software. An antivirus or security software may block attachments on your computer or device. Check the settings of the antivirus or security software for the same and make an appropriate change to unblock the attachments.

You may also take help from the help article here (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/send-email-attachment.html) and see if that works.

Let us know how it goes

Regards

Amal
