Form Setting in Preferences keeps changing back after I exit Acrobat

I keep changing a setting in Acrobat and it keeps resetting every time I reopen Acrobat. The option is Preferences > Forms > Automatically calculate field values. I keep unchecking it and then every time I reopen Acrobat it is checked off again. Is there a way to make it stick? I had also unchecked "Automatically detect Form Fields" and that stayed unchecked. I have tried changing it while I have a document open, and I have also tried changing it with no documents open, and then quitting Acrobat right afterwards and reopening it as that usually works for other Adobe programs, but it is not working now.
