How to default back to hand tool after an object is created

In the past, whenever I create an object such as a shape or a text box, etc. whenever I click away from the object the hand tool would automatically be active. Now, if I create a circle and click away, it creates another circle and will continue to do that unless I hit ESC several times or actively go back and click the hand tool. Is there a way to make this automatic again?

  • In the Comment toolbar, select the tool you want to use (but don’t use it yet).

  • Uncheck the Keep Tool Selected icon

Thank you! Such a simple solution, but I was overlooking it.
