Installed Adobe Fonts not being displayed when editing text in Acrobat

Question

I have installed a number of Adobe fonts, which work perfectly in Illustrator and Photoshop, but whenever I try to use them in Acrobat the text entered simply displays as dots.

In addition, irrespective of the font selected I am unable to type ANY numbers, they simply show in some crazy font.

Any suggestions gratefully received at this stage.
