How do I highlight multiple pieces of text under just one comment?

I've been sent PDF markups before where the requestor highlighted multiple words on the page and yet it only showed up in the comments as ONE markup (for instance, "Make all of these bold"). Of course I can't remember who sent me that markup, so I can't ask them how they did it. I don't want to have to repeat "Make these bold" a dozen times if I can just do it with one comment that applies to multiple highlights.

I read that you can select multiple comments and group them (select comments and right click then choose group), but that doesn't seem to work on my computer (MAC). If I select multiple comments and right click, group isn't an option. Is there some other way to do it?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

I don't believe this is possible with Acrobat or Reader. Can you share a file (via Dropbox, Google Drive, Adobe DC, etc.) that shows this behavior?

That works with drawing markups, but not highlighters or sticky notes.

Technically, it is possible to combine multiple highlights in the same way, but it doesn't seem to be an option via the UI. It's possible with a script, though. They all must be located on the same page, of course.
