How to set the data transfer method from native mode to memory mode

Explorer ,
Oct 11, 2017 Oct 11, 2017

I am trying to track down a scanning problem that kills Acrobat Pro DC. One user said he solved it by changing Scanner Options from Native Mode to Memory Mode. I cannot find such an option or where to set it. I don't see it on the scan page.

I am using Windows 7 (64) with Acrobat Pro DC and an HP 8740 connected via Ethernet. I am initiating the scan via Acrobat. I have tried both the TWAIN driver and the HP driver.

Is this option available for the HP 8740?

Is this option available for networked devices?

Where is the option?

Thanks

Hello Joem,

Sorry for the delay in response to your query and apologize for the inconvenience caused. Change of Data Transfer method from Native Mode to Memory Mode is a printer specific settings and if the printer has the option, you can find these settings under Printer's advanced settings.

The current distribution of Acrobat has made a transition to a whole new UI for Scan feature where we don't have the options to change the settings, However, there are still two invocation points 1) Create PDF portfolio & 2) Actions where we can change the settings from Native mode to Memory Mode.

Details are as follows:

1)    Portfolio

a.    Go to File->Create PDF portfolio or Create PDF tool -> Multiple Files->Portfolio

b.    Add Files -> From Scanner

c.    Select a scanner and go to Custom Settings

d.    Click on Options button

e.    Here you can switch between Native and Memory mode

2)    Actions

a.    Tools -> Action Wizard

b.    Create new Action to Save PDF

i.    Go to New Action

ii.    Select Save and Export -> Save PDF

iii.    Add it to current action by clicking “+” button and save the action

iv.    Launch the action from the right pane

v.    Open Add Files drop-down in the right pane and select add from scanner option

vi.    Select a scanner and go to Custom Settings

vii.    Click on Options button.

viii.    Here you can switch between Native and Memory mode

Let us know how it goes.
