Hi
One of our clients has raised a query with regards to saving newly signed documents to a network share. They currently have to save the document locally and then move it to the desired network folder. Saving it directly to the network share gives a permissions error even though the users have either modify or full access to the network folders. For obvious reasons I can not make multiple staff owners of the network folders.
Is this normal behaviour for saving signed documents? Is it specifically related to folder permissions or is there some security restrictions within the signature certificate that block access to saving to network folders?
This following was performed by another tech but the resolution only lasted a few saves and then reverted to the permissions error again:-
- Removed the account from Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
- Added a new PKCS#12 ID
- Remembered to add usage options to the ID
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Orbitala,
You may also try launching Acrobat as an administrator and then try to save signed pdf to network drive and see if it works. Run an Adobe program as administrator | Windows 7, Vista
Also, try disabling Protected View / Enhanced security by clicking Edit menu > Preferences > Security (Enhanced) > select Off under Protected View > uncheck the box next to enhanced security > click OK. Relaunch Acrobat and check.
Note: Disabling protected view/ Enhanced security is for troubleshooting purpose only, and not recommended. Please turn the feature back on after troubleshooting is complete.

Hi Orbitala,
As per the issue description mentioned above, user is facing issue when trying to save a signed pdf on a network drive, is that correct?
Could you try adding network location to privileged location under Acrobat and try again?
Please refer to the steps given in this help document for the same: Enhanced security setting for PDFs, Adobe Acrobat
Also, let us know dot version of Acrobat and the operating system installed on the machine? You may refer to the steps given in this link on how to check the version in Acrobat: Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC
Let us know if you need any help.

Hi Shivam
Thank you for your response and advice.
The network location was added to the privileged location settings with no success. The user is currently overseas so I will double check the settings upon their return.
The version of Acrobat being used is Pro DC 2018.011.20058 and the OS is Windows 10 Pro build 1803

Hi Shivam
Thank you for your advice. I have disabled Protective view and enhanced security and it appears that the user is now able to save directly to the network share as required. I will be leaving Protective View disabled as we have enough safety nets in place to block any malicious code. The client has also been advised of this and the potential risks.
Thank you again. Much appreciated!
