Acrobat 7 cannot properly use the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance when installed and running on any version of Windows beyond 32-bit Windows XP. Beginning with Windows Vista, Microsoft made major security changes to the driver architecture that preclude Acrobat's plug-ins to the PSCRIPT5.DLL PostScript driver from working properly. The first version of Acrobat that does work with Windows Vista and later as well as 64-bit versions of Windows is Acrobat 8.1. And even that is dicey with Windows 7, 8.x, and 10.
There is absolutely no workaround for this other than to upgrade to Acrobat DC (no earlier versions of Acrobat are currently being licensed by Adobe or any Adobe Authorized Reseller.

Is « recently » in-line with a security update of your Windows system?
Acrobat 7 is very old and is not supported anymore and you could expect to get problems with each change in your machine.

it could be possible, but there have been no changes in the hardware or operating system

Windows 7 will not be changed much, but there are still security updates. Your problem is that Acrobat 7 is that old that most of the Adobe staff was not yet working at Adobe, when it came out.
It is no more suported. So your biggest chance would be if one of the old members still knows a work around.
