MIS just installed Acrobat XI for me, and now all PDFs from the web open in the Browser, which is not the way I usually operate. I went to Preferences > General in both programs, and in both the "Select default PDF handler" option is greyed out. Any suggestions?

I don't know why it's greyed out, but it wouldn't have anything to do with solving your problem.
That's probably something to turn off in the browser, but how you do that depends on the system (Mac/Windows) and the browser. What do you run?

Windows 7, IE 8, Acrobat XI, Reader X.
Everything was working fine with Acrobat X and Reader X.

It didn't occur to me that the setting would be in IE, not in Adobe. Thanks for your help!

In my case, Adobe DC in Windows7 SP1 64bit and IE11 latest as of 19 Aug. 2015, trying to set "select Default Hander", it launched ADelRCP.exe in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat, but no action after Windows asked "do you allow to the change to this computer" or something similar.
PDF document in web page shown in IE11 IS NOT OPENED in the browser but in separate window of Acrobat.
Oh, I wonder that Acrobat DC DOES NOT SUPPORT this option any more?

App-V Deployment: Acrobat DC — Enterprise Administration Guide
Is the know issue "On-the-fly switching of the default PDF handler (viewer) from within the application is not supported. Handler selection can occur at install time or be configured by IT prior to deployment." the main cause that I got ?
ADelRCP.exe looked do nothing when clicked "select Default Hander" button in Acrobat , of cause I installed only Acrobat DC not Acrobat Reader DC nor Acrobat XI Reader.
