When I open Audition CC 2018 on my Windows 7 64-bit computer, there's no record button or other playback controls in the Editor of the Default view. How would I get these to appear? Thank you in advance.

Thank you, ryclark. I saw the menu option on my home computer and will try it at work. It's odd how adobe's software sometimes does unexpected things.

The "Show Editor Panel Controls" option is gray so I can't click it even though it's gray it appears to be already checked. When I saw the red play button, it still wouldn't record. Brand new today but have a job request. Help!

If the red Record button (it's not a play button) doesn't move the transport - the cursor, that is - then your sound device is not connected properly to Audition. Nothing else causes this. You need to go to Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware and set it up correctly there.

I did see the response to another using regarding the record button. I know it's not the "play" button, that would be the arrow. I know it's set up correctly because it was working perfectly at first. I was able to record and edit and then I wanted to put it into Audacity to convert to MP3 and send. I must have hit some button during that process or done something wrong because it worked fine and now it's not working at all. At first, the "record" button was visible; now it's not even there, yet I successfully recorded something earlier. HELP!

Well for a start, there are two sets of transport tools available - if you want another then go to Window>Transport for the second set (they do the same thing). If the ones permanently at the bottom of the Editor window have disappeared, then you've probably re-sized the screen to be too small. The quickest way out of all of these resizing messes though is to go to Window>Workspace and click on Default - that (unless you've modified it) will get you back to the state Audition was in when it was installed. Also, clicking on 'Default' at the top of the edit screen will achieve the same thing, but it's worth looking at the list there, as something else may suit you better.
Finally, there's absolutely no need to create MP3s in Audacity. If you use 'Save As' in Audition, you'll find options to save in all sorts of formats, including MP3.

I know that I should have reported this earlier, as I've known for a while, but unfortunately Ryclark died in September, 2019.

I have the same problem with my record and playback buttons, but the Show Editor Panels is already checked. THis has happened before.
