Please explain further. Do you mean two different versions of the DNG converter? If so, just delete the earlier one. You don't really need it.
i suspect the two cameras use different versions.
sony rx100 - the early one.
lumix fz2500 (fz2000)
Do these cameras produce DNGs, themselves and that's what you're asking about?
Or are you talking about creating DNGs from native camera raw files from each camera and wondering if you need to use different version number settings in the conversion?
Please explain your scenario and your concerns in more detail including what it has to do with the Windows version.
it is really quite simple.
these cameras have their own form of RAW.
i need the adobe downloads to convert them to DNGs.
I probably need 2 versions of the DNG convertor.
DNGConverter_9.8 is for the Lumix
Use the newest DNG Converter you can, so the one that'll do the newer camera is ok to use on the older camera as well.
thanks for your help
the plot thickens!
i installed the 9.8 but i suspect pse 5 dont like it!
Dont really want to get the latest version of PSE.
as this one does everything else we need.
dng 4.6 works
Your PSE 5 should be compatible with and updated to use the Camera Raw plug-in 4.6. If you're not sure how to do that reply, here.
Once you're using ACR 4.6 with PSE, set the newest DNG Converter - Preferences - Compatibility to Camera Raw 4.6 or later.
The default for the newer DNG Converter is 7.1, which is too new for the ancient PSE 5, that's all.
Once you've got things set right, the raws from both cameras should open in your older PSE 5.
so i download the 9.8 dng convertor.
then tell it to be compatible with 4.6?
do i understand correctly?
thanks for your help
Generally Yes, although there are several DNG Converter versions beyond 9.8. DNGC 10.0 is the newest version available currently, and you generally want to use the newest version:
If there is some reason you cannot use something newer than 9.8 then ok, but otherwise try the newest one that'll run on your computer, which is Windows 7.
thanks very much for your help.
well 9.8 works
10.0 does not.
adobe forum was being silly again not recognising passwords. so i used this one.
What happened when you tried to use 10.0?
there has been a lot happening here so i forgot what happened with 10. except it would not do files that pse5 would open. yes i set it at 4.6.
9.8 works so i am ok with that.
no more help for the moment please
