Adobe Flash Player

I downloaded the free adobe flash player from the web site as it stated to do. It shows it was downloaded on the control panel and stated it had finished installtion on the web site. I go to use the flash player and it says to install the adobe flash player. I have disabled my anti virus and it said it could interfer with the download. I have now uninstalled and reinstalled 5 times to no avail.  I can't do any of my projects without using flash in a lot of them, any suggestions as to what else to do please?

If you go to Find version | Flash Player - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html what version does it indicate you have installed under the Find the version of Flash Player installed on your computer section?
