CR2, JPG files from Canon 60D camera will not open in Photoshop

I borrowed a friend's Canon 60D camera this week and shot a few test shots on it (in Raw and JPG). When I downloaded from the camera, I could see the files, but they would not open in Photoshop.

Raw (CR2) files said: "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."

JPG files said: "Could not complete your request because the file was not found."

I tried downloading directly from the camera, as well as loading the memory card into my laptop. I tried to open from within Photoshop as opposed to double-clicking from the desktop. I tried accessing them through Bridge. The result was the same in all cases.

I'm using Photoshop CC 2019 (20.0.7) on a Macbook Pro (OS 10.12.6). Camera Raw is up to date. I can open both the JPG and CR2 files on an old version of Photoshop CS5, but not in CC. My friend has had this camera for years, so it long precedes any of the software I'm using.

Suggestions? (Other than the fact that my OS is old)

What probably happened is adobe updated your camera raw to 12.0 which is not compatible with Sierra 10.12.

You can check by going to to /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CC/File Formats/Camera Raw.plugin

do a Get Info on the Camera Raw.plugin and see what version it is.

If it's 12.0 you can revert back to 11.4.1 using this camera raw installer.

I receive the same error message when trying to open any JPG file in PhotoShop.
