file format module cannot parse the file, unable to open camera raw photoshop cc

Hi,

I'm unable to open Jpeg photos in camera raw in photoshop cc. I keep getting the error message "file format module cannot parse the file". The file's not corrupt because it's never been altered in any way. It just came out of the camera onto my computer, yet it won't open. I'm using windows 10. I've had photoshop cc for a couple months now, and have never been able to use camera raw. Has anyone found a fix for this?

Try opening one of the images in Windows Paint and do a File > SaveAs > JPEG Picture and save it somewhere on your PC and then try opening the image.

I tried it, it still doesn't work. I still have Elements 10 and I can open it in raw there (the original as well), but not in Photoshop CC.

2 things to try, reset Photoshop preferences

Untitled5.jpg

If that doesn't work try this

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

Failing that I'm all out of ideas you could try contacting Adobe Customer Care

I believe your encountering a bug in camera raw 10.2.

It was fixed in camera raw 10.2.1, which you can get from here:

You want the CameraRaw_10_2_1_win.zip

Camera Raw plug-in installer

Sorry I'm just now getting back to you. When I go to the plug ins, the one it says to install is 10.3. Would that one be okay?

I contacted Adobe and someone helped me over the phone. I gave them access to my computer and they made some changes and reinstalled camera raw and it's working now. However, since having this done, I'm now having other problems. My actions wouldn't load, it said the file for them was empty. I had to load them one by one, and I also keep getting the message "the document has an embedded color profile that does not match the current RGB working space. I recently calibrated my laptop, but didn't have this message until Adobe made the changes to my computer.
