I signed up to use Adobe Pro for exactly one job, to convert a PDF. I am fine with paying the monthly fee fo the time I was subscribed to the service, but now when I go to cancel I see that Adobe is charging me $100 EARLY CANCELLATION FEE? This was NOT made obvious at all when I signed up, and amounts to predatory business practice. I am disappointed because this is not the kind of practice that builds lasting relationships between a customer and a business. Now whenever I think about Adobe, I will think of this very unpleasant experience first, and that is a shame becasue I otherwise would have recommended their products to my colleagues.
Again, I am fine paying for the months I was subscribed but forcing me to pay a hidden cancellation fee is unacceptable.
well, it actually is pretty obvious what you're signing up for, but i'm not making any decisions about your current state. you just need to convince adobe support that you missed the information that explained this stuff and ask them to help you.
there are 3 ways to contact adobe; chat, phone and twitter:

use a browser that allows popups and cookies

p.s. if you're contacted by anyone (via email or private message), it's much more likely to be a scammer than an adobe representative. ie, double check for an employee badge if contacted in the forums and look for an adobe.com domain in the email address if you click reply to an email. then check again and be very suspicious. any other method of contacting (or offering to contact you) is almost certainly a scam, https://community.adobe.com/t5/using-the-community-discussions/staying-safe-in-the-adobe-support-com...

I appreciate you adding this as well, because I also felt tricked in a way. It didn't seem 'obvious' at all, I always always check to make sure it says cancel anytime, and when I looked at the plans it offered there were options for the $20 monthly plan, or two yearly plans. Those were the only options I was given, so I went for the monthly! Obviously it's my mistake for not looking at the tiny fine print details, but I don't think Adobe is fully innocent either since every other service I've ever used very obviously puts in bold print "hey, this is a yearly contract plan billed monthly" and at least at the time when I signed up, that was NOT happening. Maybe they've changed it recently? lol, I'll stop sorry. All of this to say, thanks for the contact info and the warnings about the scam! Lessons learned the hard way are still lessons 🙂

when 3 plans are offered, 2 are annual (one paid monthly, one paid annually) and one is monthly (and paid monthly). the key give-away is that IF you see a monthly plan paid monthly, it has a much higher cost than an annaul plan paid monthly. anyone that sees that should wonder why and they would quickly see that the higher cost plan allows cancellation any time without penatly.
for people that don't see a monthly plan, they're much more likely to understandably err. but for all users, hopefully, adobe's subscription process will change to be more user-friendly.

When you 'click to agree' to the subscription terms while buying a subscription, that means that you really do need to read BEFORE you enter your credit card number to buy a subscription
-You also need to know that a subscription renews AUTOMATICALLY if you do not cancel during your 12th month
-it is too late for the person who missed the notes, but for anyone else reading this
-there are so many people who miss the details that Nancy O'Shea added red arrows
-see the Nancy O'Shea message dated 3-22-2023 (with big red arrows) in this message

I just wanted to say that I had the exact same issue here. I thought I was signing up for a month to month, cancel at anytime subscription as I quickly clicked through the signup so I could get using the software and was shocked to find I was going to be charged a cancelation fee when I went to unsubscribe. I used the chat support to talk with an agent and after they offered a few discounts and upgrades, they agreed to cancel my subscription without penalty. I realize they are not able to do this for everyone but I am very thankful that they took care of it for me.
The number shear number of people who have had this same issue points to a flaw in the way Adobe is offering the service. I think that the other software subscriptions I have used make it super clear by only offering two options, a month to month subscription that you can cancel at anytime and a yearly subscription that is due in full at the time you sign up. This eliminates any confusion on the issue.
Thankful that Adobe made this right for me but hopefully the continue to improve and look for ways to prevent this confusion for users in the future.
