Creative cloud unreasonable pricing strategy

About to switch my subscription to the full Creative Cloud plan but there is one big confusion, why does Adobe charges more for the same software in poorer countries than in the USA for example? for my country is almost double the prices that the official Adobe.com prices. It does not make any sense for creatives that work in markets with projects that have much lower budgets to pay more for the same software. Any explanation from Adobe or is it just straightforward discrimination? 🙂 Really curious about this one.

these are user-to-user forums so we're not privy to adobe business decisions but you can google for adobe announcements.  this is from years ago, https://cybertext.wordpress.com/2012/03/22/adobe-explains-why-their-pricing-is-different-in-various-...

Thanks @kglad !

Just went thru the link, the funny thing about the author's conclusion on the Adobe pricing is "Bottom line: It’s all BS!"

And honestly, every other platform that sells its services online has prices adopted to the economic status of the region. Like for eg. Spotify having lower prices in countries that economically are not as developed as the USA for example. And for sure it's not the taxes difference since the initial price of $52.99 jumps up when changing the region without calculating the tax, so In the end, as a user, I need to pay about 50% more for the Creative Cloud full plan just to be able to work on a market that has prices 1/5 of those in the USA for example. It's totally unreasonable and descriminating from Adobe's side. Not to even mention that officially Adobe does not want to sell the whole plan for individuals in my country of origin, they only offer the plans for Businesses. Maybee Adobe thinks that people from my country should not work as creatives, who knows 🙂

I suspect Adobe would happily sell to anyone who wants to buy, but there may be trade restrictions, regulations, or tariffs in effect that prevent it from doing so and/or making it more expensive to purchase in your country of origin than it is in the USA.

I checked for the prices weeks ago with the regional provider for Adobe. The price from Adobe for a 1 year subscription is crazy 1406$ !!! Thats more the double the regular price. And My country has only 5% tax for intelectual property / software. Checked couple of times on that and the ridiculous difference in prices is comming from Adobe, not from the country. Lots of blunt answers comming from Adobes side on this matter.

And about the "Adobe would happily sell to anyone" it's more like Adobe wants to sell only team licencing in my contry, not offering individual licencing. Kind of discriminating by Adobes side again.

Yes, the fact that Creative Cloud doesn't have regional prices like Steam for example is just not fair. Especially to those in poorer regions. There's a lot of talk about equality (that I really support and wholeheartedly agree with), but unfortunately that doesn't include the economic exclusion and discrimination that Adobe is doing with its CC pricing. The purchasing value of US Dollar or Euro is much different in e.g. USA or France than in poorer regions of the world and Adobe isn't taking it for a consideration.

Why are they doing this? Mostly because they have the monopoly and just can get away with it.
