luckily it has been resolved. I ended up purchasing a new annual subscription from an online Photography store and redeemed the 24-part code in my Adobe account.

and if that doesn't help you, contact adobe support. there are 2 ways to contact adobe support; chat and twitter (now x):

if you have or want to purchase a subscription, use a browser that allows popups and cookies
and click here, https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
in the chat field (lower right), type AGENT
be patient, it can take quite a while to reach a human.

p.s. if you're contacted by anyone (via email or private message), it's much more likely to be a scammer than an adobe representative.

Thank you for the response. The problem is that I cannot change my payment method because I have not linked my Paypal to my bank and I do not want that for security reasons. I just want an invoice from Adobe stating that I can pay for a year via PayPal. But I understand that this is not easy. There is probably no other option than to purchase new software with a code after the annual subscription expires.
