Cheated by Adobe CS6 Master Collection for Mac revoked serial number after 5 YEAR Here's what happened:

In 2015 I purchased Adobe CS6 Master Collection for Mac on Bonanza from an authorized dealer.

The seller gave 30 days warranty to install the software and (if any issue with Adobe) return it for a full refund. There was no reason to doubt the genuineness of this company from my side. All feedback were positive and the Suite was offered at $1,298.98 at the time. I was previously using CS5 and had no intention to pay for the online subscription (small business with limited resorces) so I bought the license.

I registered the product with Adobe online and the license key is listed on my account. No problems ever since but recently my Mac hard drive failed and I replaced it. Upon restoring my new computer and prompt by Adobe to enter the serial number it failed saying that "The serial number you entered has been revoked. This product cannot be installed. Please contact Customer Support."

Contacted Adobe via Chat only to be told that Adobe found this key invalid and revoked the right to use it. 

My questions for Adobe:

  1. I purchased the software paying the full price and registered the key with Adobe. If they could tell me then that the key is not genuine I could have claimed a refund. Why are they telling me this after five years when the source company doesn't exists anymore?
  2. Is it Adobe’s responsibility to protect its customers from fraudulent software. Why did they not take any action and place proper system to help its customers to protect from frauds for so many days and suddenly victimize their customers for using their product?
  3. The Customer Support told me that there are thousands of such cases happened and I am sure Adobe just washed their hands of this issue without solving any problem (like mine).

I am asking for Adobe to make this right. Re-open the serial number or issue a new one. MAKE IT RIGHT ADOBE!!!!

The ridiculously cheap price is the first giveaway. At the time Adobe stopped selling Photoshop CS6, that one app was $700. Unfortunately, if you buy goods that are later found to be stolen, the law lets the owner take them away, forever.  And it really can take that long for Adobe to discover fraud, by patterns of registration for example. Buying in good faith does not give any way out for people who were scammed. I think you have chosen the wrong bad guys here. The "authorized reseller" stole from Adobe AND stole from you.

And here is what really happened. You bought counterfeit software for a Low Low price. It worked for 5 years. Now it doesn't because you finally got caught and Adobe Revoked the serial number you were using.

 

If I were you I would be happy I go the use of it for 5 years and then Move On.

 

Best of luck to you. This is one BIG reason a lot of software companies are going to the subscription model. No easy way to counterfeit their products.

Your gripe is with the vendor who violated his terms of service agreement with Adobe.  You got caught in the middle of it.  That's not Adobe's fault. Adobe has to protect their interests.

 

Next time, buy directly from the software maker instead of a middle man.  Then you won't have these kinds of problems.
