I recently canceled my student plan because I've rarely used the apps in recent months. I was planning to renew my plan later when I'll be needing the apps, but I can't seem to find a way to do that. Buying a new student plan isn't an option since the website says I can only buy one student plan per account.
Do I have to buy a standard plan to use the apps or is there a way to renew the existing one?

A cancelled plan is gone and cannot be re-activated. You blew away your student discount when you cancelled it. It's for first time members only and you don't get another one. See link and screenshot below.
