I created a document on Adobe Open Office 4 and when I went to open it it had to be recovered and the a dialog box opened and it asked for text coding. The document was lost. I went to Windows 8 back up and for some reason the cache did not back up the file. How can I recover this document?

I don't think so... https://www.openoffice.org/

As far as I can tell, that is not an Abobe product

I think you'll find it's Apache Open Office, not Adobe.
