Acrobat 11 Pro - Align Function

In Acrobat 9 Pro the Object Align function was in a menu accessed by a right-click while in editing. I could align a number of text objects left, right, or center. I selected the boxes using the Shift or Ctrl key and then right-clicked to get the menu.

However in Acrobat 11 Pro that has been removed from the right-click menu. I see an align while in the Tools menu but it seems to only work with highlighted text within the text box and not for collected objects.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi BBfolgart,
In Acrobat 11, Object alignment/ text box's alignment has been removed, but text inside a text box can be changed to a different alignment, Right Align, Left Align, Center Align and Justified Align (correctly observed by you).
For Alignment in A11, one has to do it manully and for facilitating manual alignment, smart guides are provided.

I just discovered this, and I agree, removing the align function is going backwards. I used that a lot. Using the guides is not near as easy or convenient, and they are not smart guides anymore.

agreed. Why would they remove this? You could also distribute evenly which guides do not help you do. Hopefully, they bring it back in Acrobat 12 or have an update.

I agree. Removing the align function is a backwards move. It is so useful and necessary to arrange the items inside a document. Doing it manually, with the "smart guides", as you call them takes a LOT of time. Perhaps Adobe can improve this version of 11 Pro by re-implementing the align feature. Every other single program out there quickly picked that feature when it was first launched, and you remove it? Come on, guys. Please bring it back. I have been working on a document, and doing it manually is taking all of my time. I cannot believe you removed it. Please bring it back, via an update or something like that. I am sure it is easy for you to do it. Thank you!

I have found if I select an object in acrobat pro then right click and choose "edit object" I can then open the selected objects in Illustrator and edit there - hit save as you make a change and you will see your pdf update in real time. Once you finish your last edit you can save and close the illustrator document. Your PDF reflects any changes you made. You probably need to have the fonts in your system if type is involved. Because you are using illustrator, you have it's align tools at your disposal.

I may have just found a work-around for aligning numbers (or text boxes) in Acrobat Pro XI. Type your text (left aligned) and then click off to deselect everything. When you select "Edit Text & Images" again, your text will show in its separate text boxes. Drag to select only the text boxes you want to align and right click to get the menu. Select "Flip Horizontal". This doesn't transpose the text, it just aligns the text boxes.

Alignment for Objects no longer works. Because someone at Adobe decided that aligning objects is no loger important. If creators would size their objects correctlt and then use text alignment... Adobe Acrobat can be saved as of right now Adobe has failed all of us.
