(posting this for the 3rd time now - it seems my post is being marked as spam for one reason or the other and do not show up here)
When double clicking a .pdf file, Acrobat 2017 is launched and I need to log in into my account.
After that, a window appears that 7 days are remaining before I need to purchase the software.
I click on the [Start Trial] button.
I believed that Acrobat would be activated in the background. However, whilst I am logged in with my Adobe login (displayed under Help within Acrobat), at the bottom it says 7 days remaining.
Does anyone out there has an answer on:
Q1: How to re-activate the product?
Q2: How to avoid this from happening again?
Notes
1. Acrobat repair (via Help) does not solve the issue , neither
2. Acrobat update (no updates found), nor
3. Re-install nor
4. Uninstall, reboot and re-install

Hi Adwul,
We are sorry for the experience and the trouble you had. As described above yo are getting the sign in page again and again.
Please try the steps provided in the help article here (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/download-install/kb/cc-sign-in-prompt.html) and also rename the SL cache and SL store folders.
Note: The shared article is for creative cloud applications. However, the steps are same for Adobe Acrobat /Reader
Let us know how it goes
Regards
Amal

Many thanks.
I gave up after I noticed that my 3rd post was again being detected as spam. I reported it for the 3rd time and in the end it appeared here. However, I already went on and contacted Adobe by chat and were given instructions.
Now the below led to some confusion. I am getting the Dutch version of this window. Notice the grey button at the bottom. License this software. The Dutch version, translated into English, says: Purchase a license on this software.
So I believed that I would be directed to a site where I might purchase the software.
[Activate Acrobat] or in Dutch [Acrobat Activeren] would have been clearer.
Anyway, it is solved now. Thanks. In this case my AV was not the cause.

Start Trial does NOT activate. It starts a trial only. Once you are signed in, it should automatically pick up licenses, so a "trial" message means "I can't find a license".
