Two questions
1) Sometimes I need Acrobat to do an OCR-task on some bigger files.
Acrobat is then running 'in the background'. it'll take (quite) some time, but that is no problem.
However, I can not open any PDF file then, Acrobat will run into a "failed to send a DDE command"-error.
Is there a workaround for this?
If not.. and I assume there is none.. what about the following (didn't try it yet)
2) install Acrobat within VMware Workstation, have the OCR task run in there.
I believe I am allowed to install it twice
"
2.1.3.Portable or Home Computer Use. Subject to the restrictions set forth in Section 2.1.4, the primary user of the Compatible Computer on which the Software is installed under Section 2.1 ("Primary User") may install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Compatible Computer or a Compatible Computer located at his or her home, provided that the Software on the portable or home Compatible Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Compatible Computer.
"
I use VMware Workstation mainly for testing purposes. After that I usually restore a 'snapshot'.
Probably I need to de-activate Acrobat within Workstation as I assume that, after a snapshot-restore, Acrobat can not be installed again
because the license has already been activated a 2nd time (within VMware).
Q: How to deactivate the license for ONLY the VMware version?
Is there a command line for that?
Thanks.

Acrobat is not performing OCR "in the background", it's doing that as the only task it can do at any given time. That is why you cannot do anything else with Acrobat while OCR is running. There is no way around this.
Yes, you can install Acrobat on two different computers with well defined limitations - as you quoted. What will get in trouble here is this:
"provided that the Software on the portable or home Compatible Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Compatible Computer"
You would be running and using both copies at the same time.
You deactivate a copy of Acrobat by logging out of your account. This feature is in Acrobat's Help menu.

Do you have the subscription? That's rather easier.
