I just did a new install for Adobe Acrobat 2023.001.20174 / 64 bit and the page layout has changed. Bookmark and page panels now on right side and Tools are listed on left side. Any way to switch that back. I notice that with new install of Adobe Reader also.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.

YOU ROCK!! I hated the new adobe and you just saved my life. I wish companies wouldn't make their programs worse with updates.

Thanks you. It's ridicolous it took me this long to find an answer to this issue.

Thanks goodness! Thanks for pointing this out, the new layout change is completely unnecessary and unhelpful. Change for the sake of change, to justify the subscription and UX team.

Thanks a lot for the simple yet illusive option to revert to the good old UX. Good riddance New Acrobat! 🙂

THANK YOU ROMAN! Saved us from this nuissance change.
TO ADOBE: Adobe and software developers/coding folk, you just do not get it sometimes. Probably a result of design by committee. I get it, its "new and fresh". But it realy is not. It is annoying and a waste of our time.
Certainly not being a luddite here, but Adobe, please explain to me like I am three as to why after this long it suddenly becomes more efficient to reverese the location and layout of the GUI ? Explain to us why we should have to relearn a program we have been using for 20+ years and the benefits of this "important" change. We are always interested in updates and new features, but these types of changes acutally reduces our efficiency. Case in Point: Having to spend 20 mintues searching on Adobe help on how to reset the GUI. I want that 20 minutes of my life back plus our staff time.

Hi All!
We appreciate your valuable feedback! We're always looking for ways to make Acrobat better, and we appreciate the time and effort you have taken to share your feedback with us.
We acknowledge that the new Acrobat represents a notable change, however, we hope that as you get familiar with the new interface, you are able to be more productive & get more out of Acrobat. With the new interface, we aim to:
We would also like to highlight that we have exhaustively tested these changes with users over the past 12 months, keenly monitoring user behaviour & addressing top user issues before gradually rolling out the new interface to the Acrobat user base.
A point to note is that as we made these changes in the interface, we have ensured all tools & features that are currently supported, retain their familiar functionalities and workflows as they did in the previous version. We are proactively addressing any gaps or issues reported by users related to any break in current workflows.
We will follow up on this response with a detailed article explaining the changes, a guide to help familiarise you to the new interface, along with regular updates on upcoming changes.
Thank you once again for your feedback and do look forward to our upcoming releases!

You didn't address why the bookmarks and thumbnails are forced to be on the right hand side. Left to right is the typical reading direction, and typical reading order is chapter title (from bookmarks bar) to content. None of your three aims address why it is more ergonomic for the tools to be on the left and page navigation on the left. At the very least, Adobe could have allowed for users to choose which side they want each pane to be. Most software, including Adobe's, provide a fair degree of flexibility in the layout of the UX. One would expect that a configuration that has been standard for over a decade and is consistent across PDF readers software would be the one setting that users can change. Instead, the only response to a common complaint is "disable our new interface."

Today Acrobat Professional was updated (which is good), but now I got this new interface.
What I do not understand:
Why are the bookmarks at the right side? The user expects it to be on the LEFT. And I cannot swith the position. Anyone, who wants to read a document, uses the bookmarks far, far more often than any other tool. This is my main point!
The navigation icons are now almost hidden in a toolbar at the right bottom. I need better access to these icons! They should not be tucked away out of sight. My second point! All other issues are not that important. But if these two are not taken care of, I will always move back to the old interface!
