Since the 2023 update to Acrobat I can no longer view large images zoomed in. I design artwork for print at a few metres in width, and I used to be able to zoom in at 100 or 200% to check on detail. Since the 2023 version Acrobat will just freeze if I zoom past around 50%, and random white blocks appear over the image.
I've turned off image smoothing and it makes no difference. Does anyone have a solution? I'm on a Mac Studio M1 Ultra with 128gb of RAM, so it's not for a lack of firepower. Used to work fine up until the 2023 version. It's really hindering my workflow.

I should add that the file sizes are not even that big, around 200-300mb. It seems to be some change they've made to how Acrobat process the image.

Hi @ianr490823
Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.
Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. Also share the PDF file in question so we can check it at our end.
What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.08.20458 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/3vpsYSl and see if that works.
Also go to Preferences > Page Display > Under rendering, Uncheck 'Use page cache' and Under page content , select 'Show large images' > click OK and reboot the application and check.
Let us know how it goes.

It's an issue with all large PDF's, smaller images are fine. I can't share the file as I artwork for films and can't put these in the public domain. But once I zoom past 50% it just freezes which is useless. Also like I said the file sizes of the documents I work with are in the hundreds of mb or sometimes gb, and your upload limit is 47mb. Give me a way to end you a large file and I can send you a non-contentious PDF for you to test.
I'm using the latest version you mention above, and tried all your suggestions and it's made no difference.

I'm having the same issues as you. It seems they do not care about their pro customers who use this for a living?

Especially with such a powerful setup. Have you tried rolling back to an earlier version of Acrobat to see if the issue persists? Also, checking if GPU acceleration mexican is causing conflicts might help—some users have had success toggling it off. Hopefully, Adobe addresses this in a future update.
