Acrobat 8 printing problems

New Here ,
Dec 30, 2006 Dec 30, 2006
duplex printing of a pdf file on either an hp 1320n or hp4300n, with OS X 10.4.8. Using several pdf fIles with odd number of pages, the last (odd) page is printed backwards and upside down. Every time.
If I print just the last page, it is printed backwards and upside down.
If I quit Acrobat 8, launch A8, and then print the last page, it prints correctly. This would seem to eliminate the printing subsystem.

single (no duplex printing) printing, two pages per page (print dialog box option), of a pdf file. First page (original first/second page) prints OK, subsequent pages printed backwards and upside down. (Also after a relaunch of A8).

MacBook Pro 17, OS X 10.4.8, 2G RAM, A8 version 8.0.0 (initial release)
What is going on? Can anyone repeat this behavior?

Thanks for the advice Deb!

After playing around with Adobe forever, we ended up changing from Language Level 3 to Language Level 2 in the advanced print settings area and that worked. No idea why this occurred or what exactly that changes..but, at least we can print. Go figure.

My company is experiencing similar problems. We get black geometric (rectangle, triangle) shapes obscuring the PDF content when printing to a Canon iR3570/iR4570 PCL5e printer. The PDF looks fine but prints incorrectly on all our Canon printers. The PDF was generated using AutoCAD (mulitiple versions) and Adobe Pro 6.0 (Version 6.0.0.2003051900) as well as some other Adobe Pro versions. The problem results from RomanS font in the AutoCAD file. It also results from other AutoCAD 2006 objects such as formatted tables, smart blocks, etc. We don't seem to have the same problem when using Adobe 8 Pro. Adobe won't support me and my 6.0 so I'll investigate Adobe's competitor PDF generators.

Alan,

If the problem is fixed in Acrobat 8, why exactly would you want to continue to use Acrobat 6.0? At least you could try updating to Acrobat 6.0.6 and see if that fixes your problem. What OS version are you running?

Kirsten,
Personally, I am running Acrobat Professional 6.0.0 5/19/2003 on Windows XP. (We do not all have version 8.)

The problem seems related to raster images. I suppose it could have to do with drawing order or memory overflow. I've seen it occur:

1) Whenever AutoCAD RomanS font (non-TrueType)is use. Changing the font fixes the problem.

2) Whenever one uses the AutoCAD wipeout command - which creates a raster object overlay to hide objects beneath the object. (AutoCAD wipeouts that are placed in Paper Space are known to cause problems when one doesn't properly set drawing order. However, our problematic wipeouts are in model space.)

3) In the unlikely event that an AutoCAD line has no width or length. (Scolding the draftperson works to reduce this problem.)

Alan,

A few things:

1) You mention AutoCAD RomanS font (non-true type). If the font isn't
TT, PS, or OT then the font isn't support hence it is no surprise that
you are having problems.

2) There is a Microsoft Hotfix that might cure your other problem:

3) This is the mac forum, not a windows forum. So if you have another
problem or need to continue...

I should also mention that when using CutePDF and PDF995, the solid black sections become zebra striped rather than solid.

Anyone found a solution to A0 page size PDF being wrong size from PPT?
I have the identical problem to this one posted last year, and can't find a fix posted anywhere:

Michael Bourke - 5:56pm Aug 22, 07 PST (#6 of 6)
Ok after much experimentation I think I've found a bug. tried all the above suggestions without success. The bug appears to be associated with the page size: "A0". I created three PPT slides with the following dimensions:
A2: 420mm x 594mm
A1: 594mm x 841mm
A0: 841mm x 1189mm
the resulting PDF files for A2 and A1 sizes were perfect. The dimensions match the PPT page size exactly. However The A0 PDF comes out wrong. It appears to clip the page about 2/3 of the length. It is as if it has reached some large size limit? It would be good if someone else could repeat the above tests and see if they get the same? Mike.

Isn't the option to print as image on the advanced menu. If so some items on the advanced menu should work on an inkjet. I've been using that for years to get around the twostep tango Adobe and HP has been having with updates to Acrobat breaking HP's Print Drivers for years.
Luckily starting with Acro 7 there has been that many problems as of late.

Now there is /was some obvious items on advanced that pertain to Postscript?laser Printers. That naturally don't work.

For those using Adobe Acrobat to print PDFs on an HP2605dn and you're getting red pages. Here's how I solved my problem.
I'm using a MacBook Pro and an HP2605dn printer. I got around the red-page problem using two methods. I downloaded the latest Adobe Reader and prints were find using that. Also, in Adobe Acrobat, I navigated to >File >Print >Advanced Button >Color Profile field >selected HP Color Laserjet RGB V402. This worked. Hope this helps.

Hi,

We recently encountered this problem in Adobe. If we try to print anything to our multifunction network printer (Canon iR4570) from either Adobe Reader 8, Adobe Reader 9 or Adobe Professional 9 it only prints the first page of the document.

If we print a Microsoft word document to the same printer it works fine but the problem seems to be isolated to PDFs and this particular printer we are using. I have tried looking up the issue on several websites/forums but have not found anything in particular that may work. I would really appreciate any help in order to resolve this issue.
