Acrobat 8 Pro: deactivate & reactivate

New Here ,

We contacted Adobe to get help with deactivating Acrobat 8 Professional on an old computer and activating it on a new computer and were asked to post here instead.  Now we understand that the activation server was retired a while ago, which is why the "deactivate" function in Acrobat is no longer working.  We actually had the same exact situation back in 2017 and had an employee contact Adobe, who received via email a link to a modified version of the same application that somehow bypassed the licensing server.  We believe it had a different license number than the one we purchased, but unfortunately we lost record of it after said employee left our company.  Does anyone have any experience with this modified version of Acrobat, and is it still available?

End of support for Acrobat 8 was in November 2011. I would be very suprised if anyone would be able to bypass the licensing server at this point. Plus, I don' t know if software that old would even be comptible with today's computers.

I know this doesn't help you, but I just wanted to chime in. You may want to consider upgrading to a newer version of Acrobat.

Thank you for your response!  I know, I totally hear you... upgrading to a newer version was recommended by Adobe (naturally) also.  Since we got lucky before I was hoping maybe there's another option out there.
