Acrobat appends "_af_date" to field name of Text field having a Date format, other editors don't

I have a form with a Text field having a Date format. This form is in a "PDF Template" to be pre-filled by the system, which needs specific field names like "eventDate.1", "eventDate.2", etc to do that up to the number of events the system knows about. When the resulting PDF is created, the user can edit such fields whether prefilled or not, and would like normal features like data picker and format checking.
Problem is that Acrobat appends "_af_date" to the field name which cannot be removed once appended, so "eventDate.1" becomes "eventDate.1_af_date" and cannot be used by the system to prefill unless every Date field is always assumed to have that suffix even if created using some other PDF editor that does not do this. I'm not sure why Acrobat automatically does this, nor anyway to get around it.
Any suggestions?

Do not convert the form to an Adobe Sign one, by ticking the box that says "This form requires signatures" when first creating it. You can now revert it back to a normal Acrobat form, but it won't re-rename the fields. You'll have to do that manually.
