M3 Max MacBook Pro, macOS Sonoma 14.5
Earlier this morning I shared a PDF document for collaboration using the built-in Acrobat DC feature.
Even after closing the document (with Acrobat still running), the Acrobat Collaboration Synchronizer process was using between 150 and 200% of CPU energy.
I used the AppTamer application to put a limit on it when Acrobat was not in focus and it helped but I believe this should have not happened in the first place.
More worrying, though, is the fact that:
1. the process should not be running if the shared document is not open
2. the process should not be running if Acrobat has been quit!!
I have been obliged to Quit the process in Activity Monitor to prevent it from using resources best needed elsewhere.
Please fix this kind of damaging behaviour as soon as possible.

Hi @Inélsòre,
Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble, and the delayed response.
Would you mind updating the app to the latest version and lettings us know if the issue is fixed?
To do so, go to Acrobat-> Check for Updates.

As an addition:
The Synchronizer uses much energy if the Macbook in in sleep mode and the mac gets quite warm.
I dont have this problem with a M3 MAX MacBook with macOS 14.

Same here – leaving the computer in sleep mode for five hours drained more than 20% of the battery (would normally be 2–3%), presumably because of the Collaboration Synchronizer hogging CPU power.
I’ve never even used the collaboration features, nor do I want the feature to begin with. This behaviour only started in the last few days, and I have no idea why.
(M1 MacBook Pro 2020, Sequoia 15.3.2, Acrobat fully updated to version 25.1.)

Same issue on MacOS 15.4.1 with an M4 MacBook Pro 16gb. I ended up with a dead laptop multiple times this week and degraded performance on a variety of tasks. My laptop was hot to the touch while closed and in sleep mode. Every time, I opened it to a nearly-dead battery and "Acrobat Collaboration Synchronizer" listed as "Using Significant Energy."
Even disabling all the Adobe background services in System Prefrences couldn't stop it! A regular uninstall of all Adobe services didn't get rid of these daemons either. I had to "sudo rm -rf" my way through all kinds of MacOS system folders to get rid of them.
If anyone from Adobe is reading this: your "feature" created a Chinese-Discount-Andorid-Tablet-Bloatware Tier experience on my new macbook and nothing Adobe is touching my hardware ever again. This was my personal machine, but I'm getting rid of the Acrobat licscenses our business buys also. Never again!
P.S. If anyone needs a bash script to get this junk off their computer, let me know here and I'll share mine.
