To be honest, after endlessly uninstalling, reinstalling latest versions, clearing outdated system files etc - I'm seriously looking for an alternative to Acrobat for working with PDF files...
Long story short, I'm using a 2020 iMac 3.1 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5, running OSX Ventura 13.5.1 (64Gb RAM) as my main system for work - the PDF files I produce are generally for print purposes.
I can boot up Acrobat, open and view documents etc. but whenver I try to do anything to the PDF using any of the tools - the tools panel goes blank, the window grays out and Acrobat freezes up to the point I can only force quit... A professional standard piece of software that is no more practical than using Preview, or opening the file in Chrome!
This happens regardless of whether the PDF is a few KB or hundreds of MB in size, and it's not a case of "perhaps the PDF is protected from editing" - they're not when I work with them internally...
HOWEVER... I've also got a 2017 MacBook Pro with a 2.3GHx Dual-Core Intel Core i5 (8Gb RAM), also running OSX Ventura 13.5.1... A much less powerful and older unit which seems to run Acrobat just fine??? Constantly referring to my MacBook to run Acrobat is not an acceptable solution though, as saving and downloading files from the cloud just takes up too much time and interrupts my workflow too much...
Anything I've tried so far seems to do nothing - any other suggestions? Thanks!

Hi, @MartinBarnesCreative, I've no idea if the following will help you or not as I've neither seen nor heard of this issue before. But it's a logical start. Please let us know if this helps or not.
For the Mac OS:
If the problem recurs after you restore the Acrobat preferences files, then the problem isn’t related to the preferences files. To restore custom settings, drag the files you moved in step 2 back to their original location. Then click OK to the alert “A newer item named ‘[filename]’ already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the older one you're moving?”
